Link Systems Web Based Stock Distribution System Goes Live.
In March of 2006, Link Systems were commissioned by a major distributor of mobile phones, to develop an internet based Stock & Distribution system to assist with their stock management at 2 remote warehouses in Lagos, Nigeria.
The client; Telec GSM purchases mobile telephones from a number of manufacturers which are delivered directly into the 3rd party warehouses in Nigeria and the stock needs to be closely controlled.
All Purchase and Sales transactions are generated in London and created in their accounting system; Access Dimensions.
The accounting system has been integrated directly with the Web system, allowing stock movements generated by both sales and purchases to update dynamically.
Once notification of despatch is received from the manufacturer, the London office enters the airway bill details, automatically uploading to the Web Server that controls the distribution system.
This alerts the warehouse in Nigeria of the expected arrival and allows viewing of all anticipated receipts by individual item.
The sales orders are produced in London and sent to the client in Nigeria for payment and the stock is reserved. Once payment is received, an “Authorisation to Release” is entered to the accounting system which automatically uploads the sales order details to the Web Site advising the appropriate warehouse that the goods can now be released to the client.
The final process, once the client has collected the goods, is to flag the order as “despatched”, which then completes the order within the accounting system.
Trevor Horton, Managing Director for the company said :-
“This was a large and exciting project for us to be involved in. The system is now live, after running in a test environment for 6 months and the results are very pleasing. The next phase of the overall project is just beginning, whereby we will be providing further integration into a Call Centre system, to allow up to 150 operators to process orders whilst on the phone to prospective clients”.
Peter Rebak from Telec GSM said :-
“We purchased Access Dimensions in 2004. The system never really lived up to expectations and I took the decision to find an alternative partner who could help us achieve our desires.
I used the internet to search for an alternative and out of the 4 partners contacted; only Link Systems responded to my request.
Since partnering with us, the staff at Link have worked closely with my staff to achieve much tighter controls on the business, and the work they have done for us on the Web based stock system has revolutionised the way we operate.
We are extremely excited about the next phase in the growth of our company and I am confident that Link Systems will deliver the required solution in the same professional manner as before”.
