Link Systems release user friendly Sage 200 data backup solution .
December 2006 - Link Systems, the Essex based Sage Business Partner has released their “Database Administrator”; a pc based, user friendly back up solution specifically designed to work with Sage 200 V3.5 and above.
The application is intended to provide a simple back up and restore facility for Sage 200 users when running month end routines without the necessity to operate the SQL Enterprise Manager.
It offers an Administration area where Users can be set up, passwords can be changed and up to 4 access levels can be set.
Each access level has been specifically designed to allow role based functions :
The system guides the user through each step of the back up process including naming conventions.
The restore facility provides a list of the previous back ups for the chosen database which have been carried out by the “Database Administrator” and enables the user, with the correct access level, to perform a restore.
The system will NOT interact with any back ups that have been carried out by the SQL Enterprise Manager, thus protecting the integrity and security of the organisation’s master back up facility.
Mike Hickson, Sales & Marketing Director for the company said :-
“We always recommend our users take a back up of their accounts data before carrying out period ends. Since Sage released Sage 200 version 3.5 on the SQL platform this recommendation has been difficult for many users to follow as, without a generic back up facility as exists within Sage 50, the only option is the SQL Enterprise Manager. The complexities of the Enterprise Manager program make this option confusing for the user and potentially hazardous for the organisation. We took the decision to develop our “Database Administrator” to combat this difficulty.
Having “Database Administrator” running on a local pc allows the user to maintain best practice, without the fear of damaging or even deleting vital company data”.
